This nearly complete figural flask (6.75 inches high and 4 inches wide) was recovered from the entrance to the 1816 furnace cleanout tunnel of the Dyottville glass factory. One side of this flask is lettered “KENSINGTON GLASS WORKS PHILADELPHIA,” “T.W. DYOTT, M.D.,” and features the bust of Thomas W. Dyott. The opposite side displays the quote, “WHERE LIBERTY DWELLS THERE IS MY COUNTRY,” and reads “BENJAMIN FRANKLIN” above the likeness of Franklin. Dyott’s figured flasks, offered in several different themes, were advertised in various newspapers from 1825 through 1828. In describing the flasks with his own likeness, Dyott gave himself top billing, referring to them as “Dyott and Franklin flasks.”
